Lorene Halden Obituary

Love Emblem

Lorene Halden was born on March 14, 1909 and lived one hundred three full years before peacefully ascending into heaven on June 16, 2012. Born in Mystic, Iowa, to Walter Bradley who hailed from England and Daisie Bell Bradley. Lorene and her sister Roma attended Centerville Schools. Lorene fondly remembered horseback riding and dancing in those early years. Lorene married Emil Halden on October 20, 1931. They spent most of their years on their farm in Moravia, Iowa and at the Texan in McAllen, Texas with her last three and a half years in Charlotte near family.

Grammie helped run the farm, grew beautiful rows of rosebushes and every vegetable possible, worked for the ice company, did hospital fundraising, and was very proud of her work at Centerville National Bank starting as teller and becoming one of the first female vice presidents. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Moravia and was a lifetime Iowa Eastern Star member. She truly enjoyed her time socializing with friends and neighbors, continuing this throughout her time at the Texan planning parties, playing the organ, and tending to her flowers and orange trees.

Of course, Grammie's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by Roma Kathleen Hankins and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Emil, her daughter Patricia, her infant son George, and her sister Roma. A graveside service will take place on Monday June 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery arranged by Lange Funeral Homes. Grammie reminded us to enjoy life's simple pleasures, to do your best at all times, and to always have fresh flowers on the table.

Graveside services will be held at 9AM Monday morning, June 25, 2012 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia, Iowa with Chapter #239 Order of the Eastern Star officiating the service. Memorials have been established to the family and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA, 52544. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com.
