James E. Lowe, age 89 of Seymour, Iowa passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.

James was born December 12, 1922 in Brazil, Iowa the son of Edwin F. and Emma (Allison) Lowe. He graduated from Cincinnati High School, Cincinnati, Iowa in 1940. James then served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII as a Military Policeman. James married Rosina Burkhiser on November 17, 1945 in Long Beach, California. They farmed together near Seymour for his entire career. He served for many years on the Appanoose County Soil Conservation Commission.

He is survived by two children, Debra Leibowitz of Mineola, Texas and Greg (Carolyn) Lowe of Seymour, Iowa; 4 grandchildren Ashley (Jr) Glenn of Grinnell, Iowa, Matthew Lowe of Seymour, Iowa, Vincent Leibowitz of Grand Saline, Texas, Sylvia Leibowitz of Mineola, Texas; a sister Grace Scott of Centerville, Iowa; a brother Harold Lowe of Cincinnati, Iowa; a brother-in-law Eddy (Ann) Burkhiser of Unionville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death his wife Rosina, parents and three brothers Claude, Floyd, and Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Friends may call Monday with the family present from 6-8PM at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the Hospice Room at Mercy Medical Centerville, Iowa. Condolences may be left online at www.langefh.com.
