Pauline Sumpter, age 100 of Claremont, California, formerly of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Pilgrim Place in Claremont, California.
Pauline was born January 16, 1915, in Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of John and Goldie Mae (Starnes) Huffman. She graduated from Centerville High School and was a resident for 49 years until moving to California in 1964.
Pauline loved her family dearly, 15 grand children and 12 great grand children. She found great pleasure in cooking large dinners for family gatherings and always baked an extra pumpkin pie for every family to take home after a delicious Thanksgiving meal. She loved and worshiped her Lord and Savior and was a prayer warrior for all her loved ones. She owned and operated the Petite Beauty Salon in San Gabriel, California, for 17 years.
She is survived by her six children, Donald Sumpter of Nampa, Idaho, Diane (Jim) Steele of Manhattan, Kansas, Cheryl (Edward) Scieszinski of Albia, Iowa, Mark (Suzanne) Sumpter of Victorville, California, Douglas (Janet) Sumpter of Artesia, California, and Joyce (John) Tullius of Claremont, California. Her family feels blessed to have had her for so long in their lives, and those who knew her cherished and loved her beautiful soul and spirit.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Deacon John Tullius officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Friday, from 1-2PM. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville, Iowa.
