Mariam "Lorene" Lowe, age 91 of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 02, 2015 at her home.

Lorene was born September 8, 1924 in rural Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Izetta (Ross) Hudson. She grew up outside of Cincinnati, and graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1942. Lorene then began teaching in the country schools around Cincinnati. Later, she taught third and fourth grades in Cincinnati until 1961. She taught third grade at Longfellow School in Belle Plain, Iowa from 1961 to 1966. She went back to teaching in Cincinnati in 1968. She taught first grade there from 1968 until her retirement in 1987.

Lorene lived her dream of being a teacher. That's all she wanted to be since she was a little kid. She earned her BA degree in Elementary Education from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri in the 1950s.

She married Harold Lowe on June 6, 1954. To this union two sons were born-Neal and Tim.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Millie, twin sisters Doris and Darlene, Pearl Lafoon, Ruby Frame, and Reva Milner; three brothers, Arthur Hudson, Eugene Hudson, and Laverne Hudson.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Harold of Cincinnati; her sons, Neal of Cincinnati, and Tim of Maryville, Missouri; and Tim's children, Jamison and Alyssa, both of Maryville, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati. A visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 10 AM-8PM, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to either the First Christian Church in Cincinnati or to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
