Karol Kimm, age 75, of Numa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at his home in Numa, Iowa.

He was born in Numa, Iowa on March 3, 1940, the son of William and Clara (Desper) Kimm. Karol graduated from Cincinnati (Iowa) High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Ver Steegt on June 5, 1959. The couple were blessed with five children, Barbara, Karl Robert "Bob," Kevin, Karmen, and Jon.

Karol began his working career on the family farm. He eventually relocated to Sioux City, Iowa, where he enrolled in auto mechanic training. Following his completion of the program, Karol and Kathie moved to Elk Point, South Dakota where he took a mechanic position. After a brief stay in South Dakota, the couple relocated to Aledo, Illinois. It was during this period of time that Karol held numerous jobs, including a truck driving position for a gas station and a driver/mechanic position for the school bus barn. He also worked as a farm hand for a farm operation in Aledo.

In 1983, the Kimm family moved home to Centerville, Iowa. Karol farmed for a short period of time on the family farm. He also maintained a business at home as a mechanic. He eventually took a position as a machinist with the Shivers Company in Corydon, Iowa. Following fifteen dedicated years with the company, Karol retired from Shivers in 2006.

Most recently, Karol enjoyed driving the Amish to various requested destinations.

In his free time, Karol enjoyed spending time on his computer. He also loved four-wheeling the "back forty" of the family farm. Furthermore, he had a passion for keeping up with the stock market. Karol and Kathie have actively attended the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville for many years. At Grace, Karol and Kathie provided church services for local nursing home residents.

Karol is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kimm of Numa, Iowa; five children, Barbara (Ronald) Shaffer of Henderson, Nebraska, Karl Robert "Bob" (Cindy) Kimm of Leo, Indiana, Kevin Kimm of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karmen (Stephen Hayes) Kimm of Aurora, Colorado, and Jon (Lucrecia) Kimm of Centerville, Iowa; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; a step-brother, Jim (Iva Mae) Hatfield of Bussey, Iowa; two step-sisters, Jean (Lewis) Amos of Ottumwa, Iowa and Ann Gordon of Ottumwa, Iowa; and numerous cousins.
