Angelina Barbara Budeslich, age 90 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Homestead of Centerville.

Angelina Barbara Budeslich was born in Centerville, Iowa on October 11, 1925 to Slavo and Marija (Starcevich) Budeslich. She joined the family as the second child with three other brothers, Louis, John (Jack), and Joseph.

Angeline attended St. Mary's Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated with honors from Centerville High School in 1943. After graduation, Angeline worked for a brief time at Centerville National Bank before beginning her work in September of 1944 with the Appanoose County Welfare Office. This would be the beginning of a "life-long" commitment of working within the Department of Human Services to provide services to the people of Appanoose and Wayne Counties for over 45 years.

Angeline began her career as a clerk-typist, and had a succession of advancements over 45 years ranging from Stenographer , Social Worker, Social Worker Supervisor in January of 1972. In October of 1980, she was named the Director of Human Services Appanoose County in the State of Iowa. In 1982, her directorship responsibilities grew to include Wayne County.

During her years with the Dept. of Human Services, Angeline demonstrated exemplary leadership. She initiated and supported human service agencies in the community and assisted in the development of three group homes in the area. She was a key factor in developing services for the mentally challenged and was instrumental in developing the sheltered work activities program.

Over the years, Angeline served on many boards, councils, and committees some of which were: Low Rent Housing Development Board, Human Services Planning Council, Centerville Municipal Housing Board, Centerville Community Betterment Board, Operation Santa, and the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Prior to her retirement in October of 1990, Angeline was nominated for the Governor's State Top Achievement Recognition Award (STAR) for her exceptional commitment to assist those who sought help or needed support.

Angeline was an avid golfer and member of the Appanoose County Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. Her travels took her to all fifty United States, and she traveled extensively throughout Europe, including more than one trip to Yugoslavia, her parents' birth country.

Angeline was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 64.

Angeline is survived by her brother, John (Jack) Budeslich of St. Paul, Minnesota; seven nieces, Catherine Huisman of Ames, Iowa, Debra Ebelsheiser of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Linda Pieper (Pat) of Johnston, Iowa, Lisa Barnes (Don) of Greenwood, South Carolina, Julie Nadrchal (Don) of Sac City, Iowa, Deanna Budeslich of West Des Moines, Iowa, Wendy Sutton (Jim) of St. Paul, Minnesota; one nephew, Brian Budeslich (Lynette) of Asheville, North Carolina; twenty great-nieces and nephews and twelve great-great nieces and nephews.

Angeline is preceded in death by her parents, Slavo and Marija Budeslich, an infant sister, brothers, Louis Budeslich and Joseph Budeslich, sister-in-laws Darlene Budeslich and Ola Budeslich, niece Patricia (Budeslich) Seddon, and nephew Mark Budeslich.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Bill Hubmann officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will take place on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-7 PM, with a Rosary to take place at 7 PM.
