Tribute & Message From The Family
Larry Eugene Bruce, age 75 of Queen City, Missouri, went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri, due to a rare form of leukemia.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Wilmot Bruce of fifty five years and five months of Queen City, Missouri; a daughter, Penny Teresa Eddy and husband Christopher of Centerville, Iowa; a son, Timothy Eugene Bruce and wife Cathy of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jenny) Clayworth, Jeremy (A.J.) Quirk, Eli Eddy, Trevor Bruce, Rachel (Dustin) Malloy, and Marvelee Clayworth; four great grandchildren; a sister, Delores Bardwell of Corydon, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Harold, and Gerald Bruce; a sister, Vera Spoor; and a grandson, Tyler Bruce.
He worked at several different jobs throughout his lifetime, but his favorite occupation was carpentry. Larry was employed with the State of Iowa for over twenty five years, retiring just before he turned 62.
Larry accepted Jesus as his savior while attending the First Christian Church in Corydon, Iowa. In his lifetime he took an active role in which ever church he and Pat attended, serving as a teacher, deacon, elder, and church choir member. Larry always enjoyed the church dinners he attended, as well as numerous family reunions throughout his lifetime. He cherished all opportunities to visit with family and friends.
He fulfilled a lifelong dream seven years ago when he and his wife Pat relocated to Missouri. The relocation near Queen City allowed Larry to have animals, along with a little ranch, as he called it. The dogs, cats, and goats lifted his spirits. Larry was a loving, caring, and sometimes bossy husband and father.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11AM at the First Christian Church, 100 North High Street Kirksville, Missouri, with Pastor Jim Pitney officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service, and everyone is welcome to attend. Memorials have been established to the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com. Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville has been entrusted with caring for the family.

Pat I am so sorry to hear this. Since we moved I don't hear much. I received my Lancaster paper yesterday and was so shocked.
My thoughts and prayers are with you now and the many days ahead.

Uncle Larry~ We will forever miss you, but we have our memories that will live on forever in our hearts and souls. You were the kindest, nicest, and sweetest man we ever got to know as well as one of the BEST UNCLES around. It will be hard not seeing emails from you any longer just asking how all Cedar Rapids Bruce families were doing and their families or you telling us about the ranch, your animals and gardens. Also family reunions will never be the same without you there Uncle Larry. We are going to miss those big open heart hugs that you always gave and firm handshakes to our spouses and kids. Guess Tim will have even bigger shoes to fill now but I know he can do it because you will be there in spirit with him and the rest of us. May you rest in peace while free of pain, enjoy your reunion with lost loved ones, and watch over us all here on earth as our Guardian Angel. Please know that you will always be in our hearts and souls. Love you ALWAYS!
To Aunt Pat & Family ~May it comfort you to know that our hearts go out to you all in your time of sorrow and that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We are so very sorry for your loss. As you grieve know that we are remembering you and honoring the memory of Uncle Larry with loving memories and that he will remain in all of our hearts forever. We pray the love of God will enfold you during your journey through grief and that each passing day will get easier for you knowing that he is no longer suffering, free of pain, and that he is with his lost loved ones, but especially knowing that he will always be by your side. We are wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead, and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you from family and friends. Please remember that we are here for you if you need anything. Peace, prayers, and blessings sent to you all with love

I will never forget the good times at your house. Penny and I stayed up way too late and we were too noisy, but you and Pat were always so patient with us. I will always remember your loving family. Larry, you are in Heaven now and the rest of us must wait to join you. I wish much healing to all, and we will continue to do God's work until we .meet at Jesus feet.
