Tribute & Message From The Family
Robert "Bob" Eugene Sacco, age 77 of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home.
Bob was born in Clarkdale, Iowa on December 31, 1938, the son of Charley and Mary (Valentine) Sacco. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Gwendolyn "Candy" McAfee on August 16, 1958 at St. Mary's in Centerville. To their marriage, they were blessed with two children, Terri and Randy.
Bob started working with Hy-Vee in the early 1960s when it was located on the Centerville Square. Following a brief career with the Golden Age Manor as a nursing home administrator, Bob returned to Hy-Vee in 1989. He was a dedicated employee with Hy-Vee for many years, retiring in 2001. Retired for less than a year, Bob returned to Hy-Vee in 2002, committed to seeing Hy-Vee continually progress in a successful manner. Bob was presently working for Hy-Vee at the age of 77.
He had a passion for the outdoors. Bob thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity to engage in his two favorite hobbies, hunting and fishing. He shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends throughout his lifetime. Bob also enjoyed working on the family farm. Most importantly, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville and actively participated in many church activities. He was also a third degree knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is survived by his two children, Terri Kintzer of West Des Moines, Iowa and Randy (Carla) Sacco of Ames, Iowa; six grandchildren, Lindsay (James) Russell of Ankeny, Iowa, Alicia (Fiancé Petar Blagoev) Sacco of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christina (Julian Smith) Sacco of Ames, Iowa, Tiffany and Erin Kintzer both of Los Angeles, California, Brandon Kintzer of West Des Moines, Iowa, and their Father, Cortney Kintzer of West Des Moines, Iowa; two great grandchildren, William and Ella Russell; a brother, Gary (Donna) Sacco of Moravia, Iowa; three sisters, Judy (Tony) Buban of Mystic, Iowa, Mary Ann Wetmore of Clarkdale, Iowa, and Joann (John) Lasley of Moline, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty one years, Candy Sacco; an infant son, William Robert Sacco; three brothers, Jasper, Tom and Paul Sacco; and two sisters, Francis Kauzlarich and Dorothy Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will take place on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville from 12-7 PM, with the family greeting friends from 5-7 PM. A Rosary will take place Sunday evening at 7 PM. Memorials have been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Bob was a great friend!! I'm the Anderson Erickson Dairy Driver I've known him for 10 years now we talked every mon wed & fri he will be greatly missed!!! My thoughts and prayer go out to his family it was a true honor to have become friends with such a great person!!!

I was so sorry to hear about your dad. We had many good times over the years. Going so suddenly was good for him but shocking to everyone else. Wish I could be there but with bad weather here I don't think it is wise to travel especially with more snow coming tonight. Keeping you in thought and prayer.

Bob was an amazing man! Most of our family has worked at hyvee at some point and we have never had a bad thing to say about Bob. He was a great man to work with and every day going to work, there was a big smile on his face to greet you. He was a great man that will be missed tremendously! Our thoughts and prayers are with Randy and Terry and their families. We have known Bob and Candy since I (Francine) was hired at GACC by Bob in 1985. Bob was an awesome friend and will be missed sadly by us. We will never forget the good times we spent with Bob and Candy. God Bless and Keep the family.
