Condolence & Memory Journal

As best man at our wedding in Great Falls, MT , October 31, 1959, Red did
a superb job! It meant a great deal to our lasting friendship to have him
w/us at the altar at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Great Falls, MT. He flew
out from Minneapolis, MN to perform his role as best man. And that he did!!

Soon we'll celebrate our fifth-sixth wedding anniversary!

God's blessings,
Tom and Marilyn Roth

Dear Family,

Sorry to hear about Red. He was a very good friend, and co-worker. He was a caring person. My grandson will always remember him, Red fixed him up a tool belt and always had some type of project for him to do. He had a lot of fun with him. Red is up there building something or enjoying boating. He will be missed by all. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Jeanne - my thoughts and [prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time of the death of Red. My Mom lived at the Carson's Apartments and he was so kind and caring of her. He always had a smile on his face. Do take care and know that when I think of him, I smile!!!

Sorry Sampson Family for your loss, I remember this old business man.

I bought my first tv from Red, It was a fair swap 10 hours of free labor working at the Palmer house for a T.V. I had to punch in and everything.

Remember family outing too, hope all are well.

I remember when Red and Jeanne ran the Townhouse in Sioux City. Red's brother-in-law Jim Groenewold and I watch many Hawkeye events together there. Sorry to hear about Red. My condolences to the family.

Jeanne and family, I have many fond memories of Red and my Dad together. I remember a piece of advice Red gave me when I was pretty young, "When you buy a pair of hunting pants, always get them a size or two bigger then you normally wear so you have room to tuck in all the shirts you'll need to stay warm. You can hold them up with a belt!" To this day I follow that advice.
We'll all miss him. Love, Steve Winker

I recall Red and Jeanne when my sisters would play with their daughters in Sioux City while we were growing up and when I went to school with Joel. My prayers go out to your loving family.

I only got to meet "Red" one time and it was helping him with his medical records. But I had saw his name on charts for a very long time and was anxious to get to meet this man. I know it wasn't under the best circumstances and he didn't feel well that day but even in all of that I could tell this man was unique. He was so polite and even though he was expressing his frustration with getting his records to all the places that he thought needed them and he was not having a good day. He still smiled and tried to be as respectful as he could. He apologized and I told him not to. I went straight back to my dept and told the girls that Wayne was so nice and that we were going to do whatever it took to make sure things were done the way he needed them to be. Im sorry to have lost such a great man. I see and hear all the wonderful comments about this awesome guy. RIP Red I am so glad to have got to meet you and your daughter.

Dear Jeanne and family,
I was saddened to read about Red in the Carroll paper tonight. I had no idea he was sick. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. I have many fond memories. That is something I have learned to cherish, as many close to me have moved on... Mom, Dad and Mark, to name a few. It is never easy to loose someone dear to you, but remember how much he loved you, and life itself. Memories of someone as wonderful as Red, can never be taken away. May you find comfort in knowing many people have you in their thoughts and prayers. Love, Mindy and Mike Eifler

Sorry to hear of your loss of this fine man. Always enjoyed working with him to best serve hotel guests when I worked at the Holiday Inn across the street from the TraveLodge.

In my mind's eye, Red is piloting his favorite boat, as he navigates smoothly over the deep blue sky. Bon Voyage, Red, till we meet again.
