Tribute & Message From The Family
George Kruzich, age 78, of Seymour, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
George was born August 15, 1937, in Diamond, Iowa, the son of John Paul and Rose Elizabeth (Watts) Kruzich. George attended country school in Diamond, Brazil, Plano, and graduated from Centerville High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Hazel Anne Ferren on November 1, 1958 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Mystic, Iowa. From this union, there were four children, Mark, Diana, Susan, and Matt.
He joined the United States Air Force on July 26, 1955, and was stationed at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. He was honorably discharged from active duty on July 25, 1963. George then worked for Mott Construction for many years operating a scraper. Later, he worked for Rinehart Construction.
George loved sports and was an avid Kansas City Royal's fan. He enjoyed watching both his children and grand children participate in numerous sporting events. He would make a night of it, going to the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity games. He coached Pee Wee, Little League, and Babe Ruth baseball with fellow coaches Don Banning, Max Rash, and Russ Parker. In his latter years, he sat up in the top bleacher section of the Lakeview Gym, cheering on his son Matt, while he coached the Centerville Big Red Basketball team. He also loved attending all of the Seymour Football games, cheering away, as his son Mark coached.
George is survived by his wife, Anne; his children and their wives, Mark (Jolynn) Kruzich of Centerville, IA, Diana (David) Neubauer of Ogden, IA, Susan (Allen) Ruhnke of West Des Moines, IA, and Matt (Ann) Kruzich of Centerville, IA; grandkids, Joe (Rachel) Kruzich, Shannon (Mike) Peter, Nick (Kate) Kruzich, Kenzie Kruzich, Tucker Bratz, Maddison (Andrew) Bratz-Stubblefield, John Duley, Morgan Duley, and Brianna Popejoy; and his brothers, John Kruzich and Mark Kruzich.
George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose; and a brother, Milton (Mick) Kruzich.
