Sharon Mosher, age 70 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born in Templeton, Iowa on October 30, 1945, the daughter of Leo Leonard and Irene Mary (Steffes) Ertz. Sharon graduated from Manilla High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Richard Mosher on September 25, 1987 in Ankeny, Iowa.

Sharon held numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. Following training, she worked for a period of time as a respiratory therapist in Perry, Iowa. She also worked for the Perry, Iowa Airport for a brief period time. It was at this point in her life that she achieved her pilot's license.

Holding true to her love of all animals, Sharon owned and operated a dog grooming business for approximately five years. Later in life, she was employed at the Monroe County Law Center in Albia, Iowa as a jailer. Sharon also spent twelve years of her life as a first responder and volunteer firefighter with the Melrose Fire Department.

Sharon believed in living life to the fullest. She possessed many passions and hobbies throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed riding motorcycles. Sharon also enjoyed painting rocks. She even parachuted out of an airplane, three times.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Mosher of Moravia, Iowa; two children, Sandy (Scott) Koenen of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Dennis (Terra) Onken of Naperville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Alex and Joey Koenen, Dennis and Diana Onken; three brothers, Allan (Carol) Ertz of Des Moines, Iowa, Norman (Renae) Ertz of Denison, Iowa, and Brian (Michele) Ertz of Manilla, Iowa; and two sisters, Joleen Sievertsen of Manilla, Iowa, and Elaine (Ron) Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home, 103 N. John St., Moravia, Iowa, with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Chariton, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to either the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines or to the Melrose Fire Department and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
