Kathy Varner, age 62 of Mystic, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at her home.

She was born March 11, 1953 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Twilah (Hunt) McVeigh. Kathy was united in marriage to Laurel Varner in Mystic, Iowa on April 1, 1972. They were blessed with two children, Chad and Tony.

Kathy held numerous job positions throughout her lifetime. She first worked for McGraw-Edison in Centerville. She later worked for both the Golden Age Manor and the Centerville Care Center. Most recently, she was employed with Lee Container in Centerville.

In her spare time she enjoyed carpentry and had quite a talent with woodworking. Kathy was involved with numerous renovation projects over her lifetime, including her garage, the family camper, as well as many home furnishings. She also loved attending auctions, especially her routine trips to Cincinnati.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Laurel Varner of Mystic, Iowa; two children, Chad (Heather) Varner of Centerville, Iowa and Tony (Jessi) Varner of Centerville, Iowa; her mother, Twilah McVeigh of Mystic, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Paul (Cherese), Spencer, Morgan, Maddy, Ty, Brady, and Katelyn; a great grandchild, Broly; a sister, Francis Ashby of Mystic, Iowa; and a brother, Roger (Fran) McVeigh of Unionville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank McVeigh; a brother, Dave McVeigh; and a sister, Carol Sue Barrell.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home & Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. A private inurnment will follow at a later date in the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 21st at Lange Funeral Home from 2-4 PM. Memorials have been established to the Mystic American Legion, Post #340 and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
